Welcome
Welcome to South Yorkshire Neighbourhood Watch Association’s web site.
The site has been produced as a source of information and advice about
Neighbourhood Watch in South Yorkshire.
In South Yorkshire we have 3500 Neighbourhood Watch schemes covering
around 100,000 households.
So come on, swell our ranks and make a difference in your area. It’s not exhausting or too demanding and the rewards are a better feeling of security and a reduction in the fear of crime for those living in the area.
We are always looking to improve the support available and if you have an idea about information that ought to be included please contact us and let us know.
You can contact us in writing, by telephone, fax or email and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
Take Care

What is Neighbourhood Watch?
Neighbourhood Watch Schemes are community initiatives supported by the police, but not run by them. A scheme is run by its members through a voluntary co-ordinator (resident of the area) who acts as a voice for the community and has a link with the police and other organisations.
''Watches'' encourage people to share crime prevention advice and activities, keep an eye on each other’s property and improve home security. Building two-way communication with the police helps achieve this. The schemes also identify problems affecting the community and address these issues with the relevant agencies.
Neighbourhood watch is about more than reducing local crime, it’s about bringing people together and improving quality of life. It helps to build communities that are empowered to deal with local issues and tackle problems as they arise.
Residents often feel more secure in their own homes and their fear of crime is reduced by the knowledge that neighbours and friends are keeping an eye on their home while they are out.
The police and South Yorkshire Neighbourhood Watch are able to provide crime prevention literature to all members of Watch schemes, so simple, cost-effective steps can be taken to improve home security.
